We were all sad to see Pia Toscano leave American Idol last week, but at least we’ll see her again for the big finale this May — and we know exactly who she hopes to perform with! “Charice Pempengco? She’s the most amazing singer ever,” Pia told HollywoodLife.com exclusively April 12 at a taping of MTV’s The Seven. “I would absolutely perform with her, she’s insane.”


“When I was covering all of my Celine Dion songs, I would watch her videos,” Pia confessed. “She’s just out-of-this-world amazing and I am such a huge fan of her.”

It’s incredible! Yeah it’s crazy to see something so large coming out of someone so tiny. She was singing Celine Dion when she was like in the womb. Clearly she's fantastic. Yeah, "All By Myself". I got a little teary-eyed. Get ready, America! Bring a tissue.

The song just came to life then [and] working with Charice was amazing. I flew to Boston to produce the song for her, and she was shooting a movie there, so it was kind of a fun experience. We had a great time. The main thing about Charice that people really connect to ... and kind of really love about her, is the fact that she is a normal girl and really shines because of her vocal talent, I was so blessed to produce her vocal. It's amazing to see this big voice come out of her, especially on the song we did.

Charice was wonderful. She's definitely the tiniest ball of talent I've ever seen in my life. Charice is beyond talented!

I knew of Charice because she was on Oprah. I saw those clips of her singing. One of the producers had heard of her, too, and met with her. I had to meet her, myself. She came in & she's so tiny and cute. I thought we were just going to be introduced. I'd heard her album. She said, 'Do you want me to sing for you?' I said, 'Okay' She opened her laptop... she had a demo, she hit play and she sang. She was in my office for half an hour. When that girl opens her mouth, angels fly out.

I was just so taken by Charice. I loved her spirit. I loved the story of her and her mother. She was just so proud telling me that she had bought her mother a house. So it went from just being a meeting to, 'Oh, I have to put that girl in that show somehow.' So we're writing her a really good role. She's going to start in the first episode of the new season. I'm really happy. That's one of those things where somebody walks in and you're just so touched that you say, 'I have to write something for you.' So that's how it happened.

I thought it was interesting that they made her record a song that was already on someone else’s album. But she did an incredible job, and I have nothing but respect for her. I can’t wait to hear the rest of her album. I’m excited to watch her career.
