MANILA, Philippines -- ABS-CBN's latest talent search "The X-Factor Philippines" with judge-mentors Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Pilita Corrales and Charice aired its pilot episodes last Saturday and Sunday.

For the Saturday show, J.E. Mandapat, a 25-year-old call center agent, and Jhelsea Maine Flores, a 19-year-old working student, were the first hopefuls to get four yesses from the judges.

Freelance writer Mark Mabasa, 26, also wowed judges as he performed Donnie Hathaway' "A Song For You." Saying he got his singing talent from his mother, Mabasa said he practiced hard before joining the contest.

Also making his mark was Kedebon Colim, 18, whose rendition of One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful," made the judges dance. Colim said it was God's will that he made it through the audition.

Charice cried when body builder Modesto Taran, 50, from Cayagan de Oro performed the classic "My Way."

According to Charice, the Frank Sinatra hit was the favorite song of her father, Ricky Pempengco, who was stabbed to death November of last year.

For Sunday's episode, Jessica Sanchez look-a-like Maria Angelica Prado received standing a ovation from the four judges after she performed Coldplay's "The Scientist."

The vocal group Powervoice, who performs for weddings and funerals, also received four yesses from the judges.

Singer Bien Siddony Calleja, 21, also showed her vocal power on Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love."

Eva delos Santos, 50, who doesn't look her age, proved that she can compete with the younger singers when she performed Tina Turner's "Let's Stay Together." Santos said she joined the show to inspire people her age to keep on dreaming.

But it was 50-year-old Rodrigo Lozon from Batangas who stole the show when he performed "Nothin' On You" by B.O.B. and Bruno Mars.

He also got his chance to perform Michael Jackson's hit "Billie Jean" with his idol Valenciano.

The winner of the contest will receive a whopping P4-million prize.

"The X Factor Philippines" airs Saturdays after "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and Sundays after "Sarah G Live."
