Charice Pempengco hasn't been seen much in the United States since she transformed her look. The entertainer was on the X Factor Philippines Saturday night judging talent, but comparing her to what she looked like a year ago and even when she was on Glee, the fans are going to be shocked.

What most American fans don’t know is Charice doesn't look like the girl next door anymore. She has picked up a hard rocker look that includes yellowish-blond hair that is cut at chin length, plenty of black colored clothing and wears a ton of chunk jewelry. In fact setting the photo of Charice now compared to three years ago the dramatic change has people recognizing the artist by her facial features.

With the movie Here Comes the Boom set to be released next week, there is going to be a lot of talk about the image of Charice. Gone is the entertainer who seemed to be appreciative of her success. Now people see a very rough, hip young entertainer who has decided, just like Miley Cyrus, that the shock value of looking a certain way is to show off individuality is more important in the business than the vocal qualities.

Here Comes the Boom has Charice Pempengco with her long, brown hair and cute smile. Seeing her today people will recognize the smile and wonder why it was necessary to change up her look. It actually might be a turnoff for the film as shows how time changes things and it isn't always for the better.

Bad sentence, but if the author is comparing Cha to Miley she's WAY off base. Charice can SANG.

examiner examiner...
when it is really about art, can you go with the bourgeois at all? that would be a tragic lie. charice knows that and shows that.
just they are needed for the marketing and to make a buck with the establishment.
it's to soothe old people about the horrible ;) ways of young artists, no different than in socrates' era. ("youth is spoiled..")
they use their knowledge of filipino culture (hierarchic elements) to punish charice for not playing the nice ethnic girl.
who will know what is right if not charice? who has felt discrimination more than she? not many.
the roles she gets in the US are nice, professional, prosper, but politically inacceptable.
rightfully, charice does not want to play the female version of uncle tom any more.

the other bad trick is, to claim her role in the movie and her private style, and stage person should be anything like compatible.
why? because she is uncle tom and controllable. or not. *cough*

wasn't xtina successful? isn't rihanna successful, and her violent boyfriend, now weeping sorry.
isn't madonna successful, and lady gaga?
but a short asian girl who wants full respect for being asian? ouch.

(full respect means allow people to develop, and become player, not put them in a stereotypic box and be objects and assets)

Why are her American fans going to be shocked? Charice has already made an appearance @ the Nickolodean Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles last March 31,2012. She received an award for Favorite Asian Act.

such writing is frequent in many countries. they use the logic of the grammar, words, metaphorics. most readers don't think deeper but use this as a replacement for thinking. like combining question and answer in one sentence.
if we use imagination to test reality of what was stated this way, often turns out impossible: nonsense was told and hidden behind phrases that the heads have been tuned to for generations.

what is an american fan? most filipinos over the world know about charice. where is the surprise? they have heard about x-factor because TFC is ubiquitous.
the only surprise probably is the quality of the movie and how nice the scenes with charice are. those who don't enjoy her new look will enjoy her classic role here.
prophecies about white fans are moot. most of them will understand immediately that an actress in private life wouldn't look the same as in a movie, plus everyday they watch some singer with yellow, blue or marsian-red hair, where's the surprise?
further, I think charice is very modern the way she appears in her recent concerts, and also on x-factor. the band plays a super modern style. it is a contradiction to state that americans would not like a modern american style in showbiz. some wouldn't like because of own individual taste, and that's it.

who at all would dislike a movie because the actress has changed her look since then?
also, they use the fact that charice has changed her style of singing too, and serve the miley example.
it is all cooked logics and unfair mix-up of identities and of points in time.
not just stupidity, this is very deliberate and some work was put into the trickery.

actually, everyone better should be bored by such writings, because it puts a veil between the reader and reality, instead of being a looking glass like good journalism should be.
we must be warned, it is a symptom about the role of press. parent should teach their children about it.
