Why Greyson adores Charice

Chasters (Charice Pempengco fans), time to roll out the red carpet for American teen sensation Greyson Chance. The singing superstar is an unabashed Charice fan.
“I’m a huge fan of Charice,” he says in an email interview with Yahoo! Philippines OMG! “I was lucky enough to get to work with her on my “Waiting Outside the Lines” remix. She has such a crazy good voice!”
Charice is not the only Filipino Greyson remembers. He can’t forget the fans who crowded various malls he performed in on his first visit to the Philippines five months ago.
“I had a blast in Manila last time. The fans there are crazy! And I love crazy fans!” Greyson gushes.
He’s hooked on one Tagalog word–mabuhay and wants to learn more when he comes back to Manila for a concert on Sunday, April 22, 7 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Unlike most Big Dome shows though, this one is more up close and personal. Since only 4,000 seats are open to the public, Greyson can interact with his fans more.
Hands-on
And that’s why he decided on becoming more hands-on this time.
“It won’t be just me at the piano this time,” Greyson reveals. “I’m bringing my full production–my band and everything. I can’t wait for the fans to see this show!”
Shows and an upcoming second album have not kept Greyson from chalking up an impressive record in school. He admits “school is… sometimes boring, ha ha.”
But Greyson isn’t complaining. Not when he’s on top of his eighth grade class and sees no reason why his busy schedule will change things any.
Straight A’s
“I have straight A’s right now, and plan to keep it that way!” he vows.
How does he manage to bring home good grades while staying on top of his career?
“To be honest, it’s not that hard! I have a certain time every day when I sit down with my tutor. My day is planned to the very half hour!”
Greyson’s family is a given in that plan. After all, Dad, Mom, his older sister and brother have taught Greyson how to deal with success.
“My family keeps me grounded,” he reveals.
No wonder, You Tube popularity, worldwide tours, a well-acclaimed debut album, a hit single, appearances in popular shows in the US, and good reviews after, Greyson still calls himself a “normal kid.”
Still a 'normal kid'
“I think success can change some people, but I don’t think it has necessarily ‘changed’ me,” he observes. “I mean I am still a normal kid. Maybe, I have a few more Twitter followers than before. But this is all about the music to me. As long as the music is good, then I am good!”
The music is still good. And Greyson hopes he will make it stay that way “for as long as I can!”
He has found his calling when others his age are still looking for theirs.
“Singing and performing is something I want to do forever,” he declares.
That’s literally and figuratively music to the ears of Greyson’s fans.
