MANILA, Philippines - It's the end of the road for Jerrianne "Jerah" Templo after she became the first contestant in ABS-CBN's "X Factor Philippines" Top 12 finalists to be eliminated.
Jerrianne, 21, and Joan Da had to sing before the X Factor judges at the PAGCOR Grand Theatre Airport Casino Filipino after getting the lowest number of votes during the first week of elimination.
Under the rules, the two contestants with the lowest number of votes need to sing before the judges for the save. In case of a tie, the contestant with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated.
Three of the X Factor judges - Martin Nievera, Pilita Corrales and Gary Valenciano - voted to keep Joan while the Girls category mentor and judge Charice voted for Jerrianne.
The 3 judges who voted for Jerrianne's elimination said sending someone home was the hardest part of the competition.
Nievera even praised Jerrianne, telling the female contestant "I've never seen you sing better."
Jerrianne first wowed the judges when she sang Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" during the audition round. She earned one of 3 finals slots for the Girls category after singing a soulful rendition of "Fever" by Ella Fitzgerald during the judges' home visit round.
There are now 11 remaining finalists in the first season of X-Factor Philippines. They are:
Modesto Taran, Mark Mabasa, and Joan Da in the Over 25's category;
Take-Off, Daddy's Home and AKA Jam in the Groups category;
Jeric Medina, Gabriel Maturan, and Kedebon Colim in the Boys category;
KZ Tandingan and Allen Jane Sta. Maria in the Girls category.
