MANILA, Philippines – International singing sensation and “X Factor Philippines” judge Charice believes there’s no competition between her and Jessica, or any other Filipino singing talents like “The Voice” finalist Cheesa Laureta.
“These girls are working so hard; [the] three of us [are],” she said on “TV Patrol,” May 24.
The young singing star feels that it’s “actually, [it’s] not only [the] three of us. Alam kong may iba pa diyan na Pilipino sa States na nagwo-work hard para lang makuha talaga ‘yung dream nila.”
Although Jessica lost to Phillip Phillips, who was adjudged the “American Idol,” it cannot be denied that she had already become an idol among millions of fans all over the world. She is expected to succeed further in her career, as she will surely be met with more opportunities.
Jessica is expected to shine even brighter in the music scene as record label mogul Tommy Mottola has expressed his intention to produce her debut album.
According to Tommy’s Mexican singer-wife Thalia, in a tweet on May 23, “WOW great news! #TommyMottola just call me from ‘#AmericanIdol’& he is confirm to work in the first #JessicaSanchez CD!”
Thalia likewise added the hashtag “#MexicanFilipinoPower” to her tweet.
The record company mogul is known far and wide as the man behind the successful careers of Celine Dion, Destiny's Child, Shakira, Gloria Estefan, the Dixie Chicks, Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel. He is also acknowledged for pioneering what is known as “Latin Explosion” by promoting the music of Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin and Marc Anothony to the hilt.
Meanwhile, in a past interview, Charice said she welcomes the idea of one day working with Cheesa. The latter was eliminated from the singing search “The Voice” last month.
In a post from teenwide.blogspot.com, Charice was quoted to have expressed interest in collaborating with Cheesa.
“We are very excited because we wrote a song for her and we will be collaborating,” Charice said.
“She’s [Cheesa] very excited because she wants to come here to the Philippines to release some single written by yours truly,” she added.
