New rumors hound Charice: Has the singer eloped?

A rapid succession of issues has befallen Charice lately, a lot of which revolve around her startling series of “makeovers” – including her increasing number of body tattoos, boyish haircut as well as her clothing choices – and controversial photos that have found their way online.
Whereas her mom, Raquel Pempengco, initially expressed concern over the recent changes Charice had undergone, these days she’s quick to come to her daughter’s defense.
The latest issue involving the YouTube sensation was that she allegedly “eloped” with Alyssa Quijano, a finalist of “The X Factor Philippines” on which Charice served as mentor-judge. The two were said to be acquaintances, even rivals in previous singing contests, long before chancing upon each other again on the show.
Mommy Raquel told “TV Patrol” on Tuesday that Alyssa’s mother, Lisa Quijano, had initially called her for help in soliciting the media’s assistance because Alyssa ran away from home with two other girls.
Charice’s mom pointed out that no one is certain that Charice is one of those who fled with Alyssa. Moreover, she said that people shouldn’t be quick to judge, much less call the incident "elopement."
She reiterated that people shouldn’t assess her daughter’s personality based on her looks, certainly not when Charice herself has not even addressed the matter.
Earlier, Mommy Raquel gave her “blessing” to her daughter to profess her “true identity,” further fanning the flames that the international singing sensation might really have something to confess, so to speak.
For her part, Charice’s most recent appearance is not on any TV series or talk show; rather, in a video uploaded on YouTube upload by a certain Mico Malonzo, jamming with a band to Rivermaya’s “Kisapmata.”
In describing the video, the uploader wrote: "Charice will never quit singing” – an answer perhaps to those wondering how long her apparent hiatus would be. Aside from “The X Factor Philippines,” Charice’s last public musical effort was a collaboration with Cheesa, the Fil-Am contestant on "The Voice."
Mico uploaded a shorter version of the video on May 10, seemingly shot on the same day and at the same venue. Here, Charice is seen performing “Lighthouse,” a song off her second international album “Infinity.”
